Announcement!

Before Avery got to school today, his friend Olivia, apparently, arrived with an announcement. When she got to class, she raised her hands in the air to get everyone's attention. She said, "Everyone, Avery is on his way!"

Morning Workouts with Avery

Avery likes to join in on the fun of exercising, and is actually PART of the exercise. With our new playroom/lounge/tv room/exercise spot in the basement, we can do workout videos in the morning. This was a little impromptu, but funny.

ohhhhhh...it's cold out there...reprise

you have to listen closely....

What's On Your Face?

Before leaving for school this morning, I noticed Avery's face needed some wiping. I said to Avery, "What do you have there on your face?" He thought for a second, and then said," Hmmmmm...a little bit of cuteness and some schmutz."

Invisible Bunny Rabbit Pets

Avery introduced us to his two baby bunny rabbit pets just now. They are invisible, eat "bunny rabbit food", which includes marshmellows, berries, nuts and cream cheese. They also drink water and Chai tea. Their names are Dingy and Bingy, and they are twins. They are also "hmmm hmmm" bunnies...that is the KIND of bunny they are. He said to be careful because they don't want to be smushed, so we have to tell everyone who is coming over that they are here. There is also, apparently a little baby one named, I think, Wat-in. However, when asked, Avery said the baby's name is spelled, "Wat-A-On-A-V-E-R-Y". They are invisible, so of course there are no pictures.

Semantics & Stories

Avery just hit me in the face. I told him not to hit, and he replied, "I wasn't hitting, mommy. I was just rubbing very quickly." He also wrote (dictated) a story yesterday. Here it is: A guy was good and a bad guy. He wanted to be colored in. He took the colors out of my hand and put them all over. There is an illustration that I'll post with this later, too.

Avery's Learning to Raise His Hand

This will come in handy in school in the future, but maybe not at Pop Tom and Sashee's.

Feeling Better, but One Mo Day of Healin'

Image
Avery spent the morning with his papa today. I just didn't want him to go to school when he still isn't 100%. Now, just a little sore in various areas that shall remain unsaid. So, he's mostly healed and feeling better, just not all that comfortable today. So his papa took him on a walk to the Kimmel Center, and then they walked all the way up to Reading Terminal Market. Here he is seeking shelter along the way: And then at at the Kimmel: All this with just a camera phone! Papa's clearly a skilled photographer (way better than I am!)!

Ice Pops, the Cure All

Avery was sick today, so we kept him home from school. He was very clingy, and didn't let me do anything by myself the whole day, poor little guy. He kept saying he wanted to be "holded," and was surprisingly hungry the whole day (perhaps having to do with the fact that he really wasn't able to eat or drink anything that stuck.) At around 10am, Avery and I were able to run down to an early appointment, and the doc checked Avery out. She basically said he was fine, and to try getting him some crackers, soup, and maybe ice pops. On the way home, Avery said to me, "I know why I am not feeling well, mommy. It's because I haven't had any ice pops!"

First Public Bus Ride, Public Sporting Event, and Wrestling Match

Image
Avery spent the day with Pop Tom yesterday, so, of course, it was action-packed. First, they built a snowperson. Avery used a melon ball scooper, and came back to report about it. Then, they made a face. The snowperson appear to have almost been as tall as Avery ( approximately 37 1/2 inches), but then, it got a little more sculpted. After snowperson building, Pop Tom and Avery took the bus to UPenn to see the wrestling match. This was Avery's first time on a bus. Very exciting. Pop Tom balanced Avery and the stroller on a crowded bus, up to University City. While the bus ride was a highlight, Avery was way more interested in talking about the wrestling match. He was clearly riveted: I asked him what he learned, and he said, "There were guys. The guys wore RED and BLUUUUUE. They wore earmuffs so they didn't hurt their ears. And they wrestled." He also reported it was a lot of fun.

Avery's Message to Daddy on a Snuffy Nosed-Snow Day

I asked Avery if he wanted to send a message to Daddy. This was totally not planned. Seriously, I thought we were having fun on our snow day! He said he has a 'snuffy nose' today. But we do miss daddy.

You Could Win a Grandpa!

Avery and Charlie, Sunday, around noon, were playing in Avery's playroom. The radio was on the in the background, and they heard the following: "Stay tuned for more about winning the exclusive grand prize." Avery turned to Charlie and said, "Did you hear, ChaHlie? Did you hear? You can win a grandPA!" I love that Avery calls him "ChaHlie."
