Guy With Food in His Belly

Image
Avery's been really interested in sketching lately.  I am trying to harness this and get him to start a little sketch journal.   I actually think they do this in school next year.   He drew this at Sashee's today for the fridge.  There are also others of us, and monsters and aliens.   He was so intent on drawing on the way home that it took about 25 minutes to walk the five or so blocks.

Heard from the kitchen, while making gingerbread dough

Daddy, that dough you are making is really, really, rully DOUGH-Y and really, really BROWN .  Both were clearly meant as compliments. Depending on the success of said gingerbread, photos of chefs and gingerbread house and/or cookies to come.

Fancy Avery

Image
Avery woke up this morning and asked if he could wear something fancy to school. He said that it's the Thanksgiving Feast, and he needs to 'get dressed up.' I have no idea where he gets it! Here, he's actually King of the Mexican Hat Sofa, taken this weekend at Nan and Popi's. Nothing to do with Fancy Avery.

Whistling

Avery ran up to the bathroom where I was brushing my teeth this morning. He declared he learned to whistle, and wanted to show me. He put his arm down at the side of the sink, and rested his cheek on it, facing the wall. He started to make a faint whistling sound. He then asked excitedly, "Did you hear????!!!!" I told him YES, but that I might hear better if he were facing me. I asked if he would whistle again. He replied, "But, maaaammm! I have to save my whistles for MaryBeth and Lisa." (his teachers)

Growing Up Together

Avery quote, "When I am grown up and Charlie is not, I am going to take him in the car."

One Other Funny Things I Want to Report

Last night, in the park, Charlie randomly told Waker, "Walker!   I like broccoli."  He paused, and was about to run off.   He quickly turned again and said, "and chicken with sesame." A and C were playing in leaves.  I was trying to wear them out so that they would fall asleep early during their sleepover. When IS the right time to just announce you like something, really, if not a few hours before dinner?

Breathing Room

We just asked Avery to give Charlie a little breathing room (he tends to get intense!) He started blowing on Charlie. Funny.

Fun at the Park

Charlie is sleeping over tonight, so we went to the park to run around a little. As we were crossing the street to get to the Square, there was a bride being photographed. Avery exclaimed, "Charlie! Let's go to the park to play with the princess!"

Cutting the Box to Make Robot

We cut out eye holes in a small white box tonight so that Avery could make a 'robot head'. Afterwards, he was looking at the box, with the cut out holes, intently. He asked if we could cut a hole that connects the two eye holes, one that went in between. I asked him why, and he explained, "Because I want my robot to be able to use binoculars. And some binoculars, like ones that are from India , (he stressed those words), have this connecting part between your eyes." So now he has a very custom made Indian-binocular-wearing robot head.

Sorry for the Repeat, Family...but it's funny

Avery just remarked, "I've been wanting to do THIS for years and years!" And here it is:

Avery-ism

Avery: Sometimes people think I am not right, but I am sooooo right. Me: I totally know what you mean.

Avery's Song

If you are having sleep over, with your friend Don't let them knock down your tent, your tent Oh, yeah. If you are having a sleep over Oh yeah! Don't let them knock over your block tower, your tower... Don't let them do that. Oh, yeah Don't let them go to your house without your mom or dad Oh, don't let them do that, no no Oh yeah Don't let them knock down your block tower again Don't let them knock down your tent if it's made out of clothes Don't let them knock down your clothes line or clips Oh, yah. ****** There's a lot of knocking down in this song. And a lot of "not letting" of your friends... And clothes line clip??????

Is this bragging?

A nametag made for the Pre-School Potluck. These are Avery's "favorite things about school."

Chocolate for Breakfast

Avery just said, "Mama, my body is telling me I really need some chocolate this morning. I really need to listen to my body."

Optimism

Image
Avery : Mama, it's really lucky that I have a stuffy nose today! Me : Why's it lucky, Avery? Avery : Because it's trash day. This way I don't have to hold my nose when the truck goes by.

I knew it!

Overheard this AM.... A: They keep getting me presents. I KNEW it. M: Who are "they"? A: I don't know! But they keep getting me presents.
