While getting dressed the other morning, I heard some stirring inside the closet. I opened the closet to find Avery, with some "lipstick" on his ... lips? I suppose this was great practice, because a few days later, at Sophia's 3rd birthday, there were face painters in the park. Avery was very patient, and sat through an entire face painting, where he requested to be a tiger. That was right before he conked out for a little disco nap before HIS 3rd birthday party.

Sometimes I wish I could record all the cute moments...like this game where Avery was directing Walker to do all these funny things. Like, he'd say, "Daddy! Kneel, open your mouth, put out your hands and put your head on the ground." Then, he just ran into him, laughing, like this was the best!game!in!the!world!
Remarkable (to me) Things Avery Has Said Recently

1. When drawing with erasable markers on a new placemat I just got him, he told Walker, "To eat, you have to turn it around. This is the drawing surface." 2. He asked if we could get a bike and then "hitch it on the back of our car on a rack." 3. When reading a book that had musical notes, he asked me to sing a song. I asked him how he knew there was a song, and he said, "Because of the notes, Mommy, right here---these are NOTES." ? How does he know that? 4. When organizing the living room, he told us, "We need to move the chairs so we can see one another." What is next????

While I ran upstairs briefly this morning, I returned to find Avery under the table. He had gotten a hold of the new gummy vitamins this morning, and a pair of scissors. He was under the table, vitamin bottle in hand, trying to open it. I asked him what he was doing, and he immediately handed over scissors, with a sheepish look on his face. He said he thought that the vitamin bottle was "food." *please note: this was AFTER he claimed to have mysteriously LOST the vitamin I gave him, saying he needed another one. He and I looked for said lost vitamin for about 5 minutes, after which time I felt Avery was perhaps being less than truthful about said losing of the vitamin (though we might find it tonight). I told him if he found the vitamin, I'd give him another.

Avery asked me this morning if it was wake up time yet. I asked him what time it was. He looked thoughtful for a second, and replied, "Mmmmmmmmm...35." He had a sleep over at Hopie's this weekend and has asked every evening since if he can sleep at Hopie's! Yay for sleep overs. We've entered a whole new phrase of freedom for all. Yippeeeeeee. Avery's also been 'helping' in the kitchen a lot recently. He's been captivated by the cheese shredder in particular. This has really meant that he has just eaten a lot of cheese. and I am posting about it.
