Where Are They? & Bandaids

Image
This LOOKS like we are still at the beach, but this is the awesome little sandy playground they have in Narberth. Avery is so excited to visit Hopie this weekend and play at the Narberth beach. Avery had a hard time being dropped off at school this morning again, even to the 'big kid' room. They are a little tougher on him up there, too...the baby is growing up! In his toddler room, they are full of hugs and reassurance when he has trouble. In the Intermediate room, the teacher was speaking more sternly to him and reasoning, "Avery, it's time for school now. No kicking. Let's go, and start your day. You'll see mommy later." The teacher said I have to just drop him off and leave quickly. ... I guess it's like pulling off the bandaid.

I can't resist posting more...somebody stop me!

How can you resist this smoothie?

This is me trying my only move on Jane. Thankfully, it works...

Who's having more fun here?

Sunset at Herring Cove

Image
We kind of missed the sunset part, but still very beautiful on the rocky beach.

That Means "Knife"

Avery was just eating some cherries, cutting out the pits with his tiny fingers. We were remarking about how agile he was at extracting the pits just so. Tom said, "He's been watching all of us closely, but I was using a "K-N-I-F-E." Avery replied, "That means KNIFE."

Dune Walks & Throwing Sand

Wednesday - cloudy with a chance of snails

Image
Avery and I went on a walk this morning and took some looks at snails and barnacles. Avery found one that he thought looked like a fox (tilt your head to the left).

Tuesday - rain

Image
Lots of rain during the day on Tuesday and we got to see the rainwater wash out the beach from the outfall pipe. Pretty cool.

First Vacation Day - AM

Image
Avery was doing some quick recon on the beach this morning before breakfast. There are hermit crabs and other sea life down there.

Monkey Rollerbladers

We were in the park last evening and Avery was playing with his new trains. Walker exclaimed, "Look, Avery, there are a bunch of rollerbladers!" Avery misheard, and very calmly replied, "Where, daddy? Where are the monkey rollerbladers?" You know, he just thought he'd take a break from his trains to see the monkeys zooming by on rollerblades.

Name that Song

...a year old, but... Avery and I were looking at old videos this morning, and found this one from last August 8th. It made us laugh. This boy has got some moves.

As Close to Camping As Avery May Get (at least any time soon)

Intrepid explorer trees caterpillar!

Image
Avery stalked and documented this great looking caterpillar over the weekend.

Avery wrote his first letter A

Image
And it was written with a piece of cheese! The carrot did not work as well.

At the Kimmel

Image
THIS PIC WAS NOT POSTED BY JANE :). ... it was posted by Walker. And where is Avery in this picture??? How do we get two authors on the blog? I am sure there is a way to do it... More funny pics of Avery from Walker's new camera. Avery is going to be even more well documented now (and we didn't think that was possible).

Kaboom!

Image
We spent the day with Charlie up until around nap time. Charlie and Avery played at Three Bears park with like forty other kids and their nice folks. First we walked a few blocks and then ended up at the Kimmel Center, which was cool but made us all a little bit acrophobic. I got a new camera and took some snaps of Jane and the kiddies. Kimmel is cool but it never seems as lively as it should be. Great views. I'll upload a few more of the snaps from the day as there are lots of great ones.

Nice Shoes!

Avery ran up to his little friend Charlie last night, who was wearing new orange crocs. He said to him, "Nice shoes! You look like you are getting bigger."
