From the Mouths of (Our) Babes

Daddy wanted to document the last of my original hair(s). He says I have a baby comb over. That's not nice. And I'm not just crawling, I am climbing. I climbed up a step today! I did it all by myself, and was so pleased when I got to the top. Then I tried to eat a plant. Yay, me!

Yesterday, while mommy was at her meeting, daddy and I spent time tooling around the nation's capitol. We visited the Fish Market at L'Enfant Plaza, the Air and Space museum, the Hirshorn Sculpture Garden, the National Gallery and the Mall. I loved the Calder mobiles and the Giacometti sculptures, and loved spending time with dad. When's the next trip?

So I've had an exciting few days. Mom, dad and I drove to Washington, DC through a snow storm on Sunday. It was pretty cool. The snow was coming down hard, and sticking to all of the trees. Daddy is a great driver, and I slept through most of it. We got to Washington and visited mommy's friend and mentor, Amy, at her neat house. She's so great and made me laugh a lot. While there, I got to sit on a big rooster, and a camel, and even met Fidel Castro! But the neatest part was that I met their great dog, Winston. He's WAY bigger than I am, but I wasn't scared. He licked my face and ate Wheat Thins. He was funny and fun to watch. We also got to stay at this funky old hotel on the waterfront. House boats, with people living in them, sat in the water right off our balcony. I loved watching the ice on the water, and the seagulls and other birds flying and diving.

Ok, so it's been a bit busy around here. Please bear with me here, as I have a bit to say and quite a few photos to post. So much has happened! First, I got to see Bianca last night when she and Nan stopped by before they got some chocolate at Apamate. I can't wait to try chocolate! I hear from Grandma Sally, Nan and daddy that it's divine. Apamate is the restaurant I went to when I was only 8 days old! It was my first hip dining experience. Anyway, I loved seeing Bianca, and hadn't seen her for quite a while. I also wanted to update you on my new way of eating Cheerios. I find the one by one method quite tedious. My new approach is just sticking my whole face on my tray and eating up as many as I can. I have to say, my method is much more efficient. And I started a new jiggle bell game with daddy. Check it out. Oh, and the big news is, today I actually stood up by myself! Today I got my own REAL phone so that I can push buttons and make sounds, just like mom and dad. I like making sounds like, "Ahhhyayyyayaaahhhaaa!" and "EeyiEEyiYOOOOOOO." Today I also added, "doydoydoydoy." I practiced them a lot at Nan and Poppy's yesterday. I am doing much better with my crawling, and can get to where I want to pretty quickly today. Just one knee in front of the other, and soon I'll be crawling out the door.

I crawled ALL the way up the hallway tonight! It took me 20 minutes because there was a lot to see along the way. A wall-wow! Look at the curtain-neat! Check out the molding-cool. I love this being able to get myself around thing. What's in this closet?

I'm dreaming up a scheme to get into the toy crate. I'll keep you all updated.

Yay!

Today was a snow day, and everyone stayed home. I got to stay in my pajamas all day long! I received my first piece of mail today from nan. It was a valentine, and it was delicious. I also read a book and lounged around with mom and dad. And I've reinterpreted the high five, check it out. That was my day. Happy Valentine's Day!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I am a good sleeper, just like my dad.

Today we went for a visit to Gabriel's house and played a bit. He is so cool. Later we also went to IKEA where I got a cool monkey.

Who knew you could have so much fun with spoons!? I spent the day at nan and poppy's. I made some great spoon music, went on a few walks and rolled around a bunch. Then I ate some sweet potatoes. I was a little embarassed because we forgot my bib, so I had to wear a silly apron while I dined. All in all, though, it was a pretty sweet day.

Much accomplished today. I'll share my list: 1. Learn to crawl - check 2. Paint art for mommy's birthday - check I'm tired.

I had some emails to send before bed.

Today was great. Aimee and Uncle Justy came over in the morning. I really loved Amy's Karma Response Unit t'shirt . Maybe when I get bigger, I can get one of those, too. Aimee and I played, "Where's Avery?" under the table. It's amazing that so many people know one of my favorite games! Then I took a great long nap while mom and dad visited with the family. Later, I tried on mommy's sunglasses. I'm so stylin'. Where am I? There I am!

Today we totally killed a few big boxes. We did so much more damage at Target than we did when I was only four days out of the hospital. We got me a new stroller that folds - it's pretty great. Light and silver, it's called a Maclaren Volo. I am totally digging it. I fell a little asleep while recharging on the way to the next big box. Super comfy shopping cart... Afterward, we bought a few towels at the other big box and then on to IKEA!! We got some great pillows there that mom had been looking for for awhile. After we got home we played a bit on the floor and I demonstrated how chubby I can look.

I've got the start of a great hairdo. I just have to work a little harder to grow some more hair.
