This Week's Guest: Juliet

Image
Avery is super excited to have Juliet the cat at our house this week.  She was delivered last night by John's parents, while John is away in London at THE ROYAL WEDDING!   So Avery gets to watch Juliet.  So far, he's made a cat toy, designed a comfortable bed, and is generally been doting and careful with her. He also walked around his classroom upon arrival and told each person that Juliet was visiting. And she's a cat. And she's a GIRL.  And he's super-excited.

Deep Discussions - God or GAAAARDDDD

Avery: So Matthew, Julian and I don't think that God is real, and Gabriel, Will and Devin do.  So we say, "God isn't real."   And they said, "God is real!" M: So you are having arguments about God? A: Not GOD, but GAAARDDDD, mommy.  We are NOT talking about God.  M: What is GAAARDDDDD? A: I don't know, but it's not real.

Avery's Art Class... & Earth Day

Image
First, the pinch pot...now Avery's moved on to the 'banding wheel'.  Here is the creativity in action!   Avery celebrated Earth Day today by taking a trip to the SCEE ...  where TPS kids learn about science and the environment.    Walker was able to cancel his meetings for the AM and join A on the trip!   Walker reports that there is, "no good story."  I think he is tired, though he said they had a good time.   We can await the deets from Avery. Here are some photo memories: Avery is hanging on a tree branch on the right top side...I think.

Watch the Baby!

This is actually not entirely recent...you can tell because the front of our house is still that ugly adobe style.  But it IS within the last year!  I just found it on my phone and laughed out loud at the, "Watch the baby!" part.

Weather Report

He's not leaving anything to chance (and also not revealing the chances.  Clearly, he's got things fully covered.

He Scoottered (?) All the Way to the Grocery Store and Back!

...and on the way back, he held onto a bag of Cheetos the entire time.   Clenched in his hand. The kid loves cheetos. Oh, and he also had his face painted like a tiger. That, "Maahhhhmmmm!" cracks me up. Clearly I am overprotective AND overdocumenting.

Great Winding Down After a Long Day

It's been a long day.  So on the way home from school, Avery and I just went to a prepared food store to pick up a few things for dinner.  Avery was in a great mood, and was skipping through the store.  He saw they had matzoh balls in the food case, and created a song.  He skipped back and forth in front of the food case singing, "Fried matzoh balls!  I love fried matzoh balls!  Oh, yes!  Oh, yes!  Fried matzoh balls!" (they were not fried, but...) Now he is sitting on the sofa, and his new song is, "I'm sitting on the sofa, and boogying with some tuna!"

Avery's New Term

"..., I'm afraid." "There is no more ice cream, I'm afraid."  We think he got this from Sashee.

These were created for us to carry around at Sashee's art opening yesterday.

Dinner order

For dinner, I want tortellini and salad with no mustard, potatoes, or tomatoes.

Avery's Got a New Watch

Last night, from his bed, you could hear, "Mommy!!! It's 7, 1, 4.   Mommy!!!!!  It's 7, 1, 5.  ....   Daddy!!!!  It's 7, 1, 8.  It stopped before 7, 3, 0.  Now, he's upstairs in the bathroom.  He's yelling down, "Mommy!  It's 6, 1, 1.   Sometimes he gets numbers wrong, like mixes up 2 and 5, for example.   With a digital watch, they are sort of like learning b and d.     Also, he hasn't quite learned how to read time---so it's a list of numbers still.   This is only the second day of watch wearing, however.  I bet in about  week there will be some changes.

The King

Avery asked me what a King was yesterday.  I told him (in brief) that a king was someone who was born into a position where they could tell people what to do and they do it."  He then said, "So in our family, am I the king?"
