I have no idea what this is about, but...

Avery just said, "All the boys in my school are interested in girls.  Not big people girls.   Just little girls.  And their tiaras."

Superman's Weekend

Exposed!

Avery's revelation this morning.... We were praising him for eating his whole lunch, and he revealed, "Sashee really ate all the Cheetos!" For some reason, this just seems really funny.   Avery also announced this morning, "NO LOVING IN THIS HOUSE!"  I think he was annoyed with me because I wanted to hug him.   Then, a minute later, he reconsidered and said, "Just kidding, we can loooooooove."

Really, Avery's First Big Kid Playdate

So proud of our boy! Yesterday, his friend's mom picked him up (as seen in the note yesterday).    He's had playdates before at friend's homes, but usually with his sitter, or grandma, or with me there.  So this was a 'get in another car, go to someone's house, by yourself..."   So first "big boy" playdate. And here is the note I just received, Hi Jane, I just want to tell you that Avery is such a sweet boy. He is just so cute, fun and thoughtful. He and Devin get along really well.  Devin's already asking when they can have another playdate!  Avery was just a pleasure to have over and we'd love to have him come back any time. Jess

Playdate with Devin

Update from Devin's mom, 3pm-ish: "Hi! Have both boys. Happily eating a snack and very happy to be together. Jess" CUTIES!!!

Working It

At dinner last night, in an attempt to get some info about school out of Avery, I asked him what his favorite part of the day was yesterday. He replied (perhaps with a sly smile), "When I saw you after ASEP!" (ASEP is the After School Enrichment Program he attends.)    I ran over to give him a hug and kiss, and say, "Awwwwwww!!! Thank you!!!!" While being smothered, he said, "I knew you'd say that!"

Bathtime

"Baths are even worster than brushing teeth!". Quote of the day.

Love Box

Quote of the Morning

"The girls have the babies, and the boys go to the bathroom.  That's what Sammy said. I think that the girls have the babies and the boys don't do anything.  They just wait for the babies.   That's what I sometimes say."

Morning Walk to School

On the way to school, Avery yelled (loudly), "Mr. HaberSTOPPER!!!!!"  So I asked, "Is that a character in a book you are reading?" He replied, "No.  I just had that word in my body for a really long time and had to get it out." Avery was in a great mood this morning.  We arrived to school in time for the Pre-K and K ballet performance at Encuentro (the TPS morning meeting).   The little girls (it was all girls) were in the front, all in pink, wearing tutus.  I had to stay because it was TOO cute.   Avery seemed interested, too, so perhaps we'll go to the ballet soon.  They did first, second and third position and then tiptoed off the 'stage'.

Happy Birthday to Boo

Image
First thing this morning, Avery decorated our cupcakes with sour cherry jellybeans.  Of course, this also required an entire change or clothing because somehow he managed to get chocolate frosting on EVERYTHING.  (And he had the option of wearing frosting covered clothing to school.  He chose to change). Walker and I visited school today, and Walker read Skippyjonjones to Avery's class.  He was SO thrilled he could not sit still, and tried to point out all the various pictures and pre-tell the story   I loved it.  Perhaps not as fun for class mates. Avery also got this awesome crown, with candles and his name in glitter.   He got to wear a little candle necklace all day as well.    I cannot believe five (5FIVE5!) years ago this evening out little amazing boy came into our lives!!!  It seems he's been here forever, too.   Happy 5th Birthday to our BIGGER AND BIGGER BOY!

Justification

Me: Avery, please don't kick me. Avery: I wasn't.  That was a foot kiss.

Farm Trip

Image
Avery's class got to visit the Marathon Organic Farm this week on a school trip.   They were led by Adam 1 and Adam 2, which was the only detail Avery reported.    That said, it did inspire Avery to want to buy seeds.   He chose cabbage, carrots and beets  Once our little backyard is fully functional again, we plan to plant and see what happens.

How Babies Grow, by Avery

First, babies are little eggs.  Then they hatch inside mommy's belly and they are the size of marshmellows.  Then, they grow bigger like the size of a lemon.  Then they are the size of a pear.  Then they are the size of an avocado.    Then he is ready to come out of your belly.  He comes out. That's the end.
