Goodnight, Avery

Image
Avery's been doing so well getting to sleep lately. Although, of course, as I write this, he's woken up with a scream (we are going to give him three minutes). For the most part, however, he goes down into his bed awake, with no bottle. He usually talks to himself a little bit, and then falls asleep. Ahhhhh...no more screaming from upstairs! Yay. Now that's he gotten down GETTING to sleep, we just have to work on staying asleep, and we'll all be better rested. Goodnight!

Avery's Asleep Back There!

Check out the great bed Walker and Tom put together for Avery. It's perfect. We used sheets from home to cover the sofa pillows. The dresser perfectly sheilds the little guy from the light in the room, and the noise from the fan keeps him from hearing us below. It does make it hard to sit on the sofa, but we're all making due.

HAPPY DAY!

Image
Avery had a great day today. He was SO happy and giggly in the park that several people actually remarked what an incredibly happy baby he was. He is really able to point out and label things in his world lately. You can ask him questions when he is looking at a book of pictures, or strolling along in his stroller, like, "Where's the tree?" or "Where's the wagon?" and he'll point things out. He also sounds like he's trying hard to repeat more words and sounds. Today, for example, we saw a little baby girl in a stroller named Lily . I said, "baby girl", and Avery replied, "grrrrr". He also went to sleep with almost NO fussing at all. He was put down in his crib, looked around, yawned, and seemed to settle in. He's never done that before, as he almost starts to cry simply when he knows he's about to be put into his crib. He's growing up!

Popi and Avery!

We were so busy today that we did not have a chance to take any photos. This photo is courtesy Avery's popi, taken July 1st. I just thought it was so cute. This was taken after a pasta dinner and a bath with honeysuckle soap. Honeysuckle is really a lovely smell. I think I am going to start using baby soaps. Avery had a great night tonight. He had Shepard's pie for dinner, walked around the kitchen, took a bath, and then we read a few books. After all of this, he went to sleep after fussing for only 2 minutes! It's a record that deserves sharing.

Waking up from a nap...

Image
The weather was brutal today, so Avery took some really great naps. He's getting much better at sleeping through the night now, too, but is now having a lot of trouble getting to sleep. I love the sleepy baby face! (Special note: the shirt he is wearing here was his dad's.)

Too tired for picture taking

Avery's been giving us a hard time lately and we're exhausted. We didn't take any pictures today. The shirt he is wearing here was his dad's.

All this talk about sleep...AKA Mega A

Avery was back on a newborn schedule last night. Little turkey. That meant he was up multiple times, but we were advised by the docs to not go to him when he wakes up. For Walker, this meant soundly sleeping through the night. For me, this meant waking up multiple times and listening to Avery cry. And cry. And he sounded miserable. I know he wasn't sick, not teething, not hungry. He needs to "learn" to sleep through the night. This is a very good quality, an ability to sleep well. Of course, he woke up incredibly chipper and bright-eyed, none the worse for wear. This has to get better for us, however! I am hoping tonight...

Good morning!

Image
We made an early morning Whole Foods run yesterday. Avery is such a morning baby. I knew this before he was even born. He was ALWAYS so kicky in the morning. I am pretty much a morning person, too, so it's usually fine...unless, like this morning, he wakes at 5am.
