Avery's Self Portrait, in Pen

Image

Ummmm...how do you answer this?

Avery was very quietly playing for at least 20 minutes, and then walked over to me in the kitchen and said, very politely, "Ummm...mommy?  Do we have whipped cream?" There is still no explanation.  He just 'needs' it.

Growing Foods

I asked Avery for some examples of growing foods.   Here is a list, created by Avery, stated over lunch yesterday. 1. peanut butter!!! (said enthusiastically) 2. eel 3. cucumbers 4. water 5. peach mango juice 6. Chinese food
Overheard in the hallway of the Benson House, approximately 7pm: Avery: But DAAAAADDDDYYYY, it's a hiding pants game! Walker: But Avery, we know where it is.  It's in your pants.

Can't figure out how to orient the correct way, but this is so cute!   They must have asked the kids to clasp hands on their laps, but Avery looks like he's praying!

Not the REAL Santa Claus

On the way to the library this afternoon, we ran into Santa Claus.   He was very happy to see Avery!  He gave him a tiny candy cane (and one for mom, too.)  When we left, Avery looked up at me very seriously and said, "Maaaaahhhh, you know that wasn't the REAL Santa Claus.  That was just guy who was dressed up as Santa Claus."    Oh, I didn't know that..! He also told me earlier today that Santa really wasn't very busy this time of year because, he explained, "the elves do all the work, you know.  All Santa does is deliver the presents." Did he learn this from Elf? Though he seemed to be feeling much better today, he hardly ate dinner at all tonight and fell asleep super-early, complaining his tummy hurt. The doctor said that he could go to school tomorrow, but I am questioning that...

The Happiness Diagnosis

Avery wasn't feeLing well last night.   So this morning, we took his temperature with one of those thermometers you stick in your ear to get a reading.   He's now back to feeling well, but is a little obsessed with the thermometer. So he just stuck it in his ear to get a reading.  It beeped, and he looked at me and said, "The thermometer is happy!  It keeps smiling, but my tummy hurts.   It's broken."

Avery's Blog Update

Avery made the decision today to make his own post on the blog.  He wants to tell a poem.  Here it is: ****** Birdie Race, by Avery birdie, birdie up in the sky fly away bye, bye, bye in a guy, that ate a pie hymie, hoddy, hymie hi ****** Kinda catchy, no?

Love what he's producing lately!!!   Holiday gifts, anyone?

On the way to school...

Avery just spontaneously said, "I LOVE my school!"

Uhhh...

Avery just asked, "Ma, can I watch Drunken Junction?"   When you can't read, I guess that it could sound like that.  Puts a whole new perspective on Schoolhouse Rock, doesn't it?
