Checklist

Avery requested three things for our trip to brunch at his friend's house. He's insisted on bringing 1) a clown nose, 2) an elephant puppet and 3) a harmonica. Because...you never know what could hapen in your day when you are three.

Avery's Dream

Avery woke up and said, "Last night I dreamed about Winnie the Pooh and Tortoise the Turtle. They were just hanging out."

At the library

We were in line at the library tonight and Avery announced, in a loud voice, " Daddy, mommy keeps falling in love!". A lady in line turned around and said to me, "Wow! I want to hear more about this!"

Avery's Artwork

Image
Today, I picked Avery up from school because of the rain. I think that maybe trains were delayed due to rain, but not entirely sure. Anyway, Avery had a few different pieces of artwork he'd created today. He was very excited about them. The first, he showed me, was a monster. Apparently, they discussed this at lunch. Apparently there are bugs that eat mosquitoes. They are 'mosquito eaters' and, Avery explained, bigger than mosquitoes. I am not certain, but this is perhaps a rendition of a monster mosquito eater. Then, the next drawing is an action shot. Avery said that this is a popping balloon. I love that idea. Finally, he showed me the last piece. This, he said, was a 'modern chair'. He was showing all of his little friends, too. I wonder if anyone knew what a 'modern chair' was. I wonder where he got that one!

Lego Building

Image
Avery spent an hour last evening just building with legos. This is something that's been happening a lot lately----excellent playing on his own with legos...for hours!

Getting Dressed

Image
I asked Avery to get dressed for school the other day. He was dawdling a bit and it was getting late. So finally, exasperated, I just said I'd help him get dressed. He replied, "Oh, ok, mommy. You can help me get dressed and then you can give me a chocolate." I asked him why he should get a candy if I am getting him dressed. He replied, "No, no, no, mama. Don't you know? That's a good deal for you, mama. Really. It's a good deal. You should take that deal. You get me dressed and then you give me chocolate. I want that deal." He's got to hone his negotiation tactics a bit, but the fact he was so confident and sure that it was a good deal "for me" just made me laugh.

Such a Good Patient

Avery's dentist appointment, January 11th...he did so well!

Some Understanding of the Process

Image
We found this tiny, doll dress in the laundry the other day. How it got there is a mystery. I asked Avery whose it might be. He looked at me quite confidently and replied, "Mama, I think that was your dress. You wore it when you were an egg."

Avery Has a Stomach Bug

Poor little guy. Three clothing changes since 5pm, for both mom and A. Kinda yucky. Perhaps I should sit a bit farther away.

Avery Just Said,

Image
"Mom, I need some attention!" This picture was taken before he bonked me in the head to get it.

Quotes

Avery woke up today and said, "Today we are making history!"

Child Labor Laws Mean Anything to You???

It's hard to see, but this was too funny not to record. Avery didn't want to get in the stroller last night, so Walker took his place.
