Robot Family

We've been collecting "robot parts" for a little while now. These include old earrings, sticks, bottle caps, and random objects we find walking around the city. This is not the safest hobby, nor perhaps the most hygienic, but it helps make walks go by faster (and occasionally distracts Avery long enough so that he will not ask to be carried).

This weekend, Walker and Avery went to the hardware store and bought a glue gun (for $5! who knew glue guns were so reasonable?)... And this is what we made. There is a car, a sign, a man and woman, and a pet. Not sure how easy to see...perhaps better in person:

The problem is that they are a little bit fragile, which prevents any real play with them...but still fun.

Updates: 1. Avery has learned how to gallop. He calls it skipping, and he has been doing it all around the living room, street, park, store... since yesterday afternoon. Everywhere. 2. Avery asked Walker, "What alphabet does your name begin with?" 3. I asked Avery what we are going to do tomorrow, and he said, "We are going to get some hay and ride on a pumpkin!" A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
