Avery Woke Up Last Night...
Avery woke up at around 1am last night and said he had a sore throat. Actually, he said that the back of his neck hurt. I figure he meant throat. As a side note, this made me realize that we are never really taught how to describe symptoms, and I feel like we should teach Avery that skill. As an adult, I still get very anxious and inarticulate in the doc's office trying to describe symptoms and feel like it's something I really need to know how to do.
ANYWAY, though, we figured his throat hurt, at least briefly, last night. When he overslept this morning, we let him sleep late. He didn't go to school. When he finally woke up, around 9am, he asked me, "Am I sick, Mommy?"
I replied, "I don't know, are you?"
He then revealed that, no, he was not...and wanted a smoothie and to play catch with a baloon. This further confirms the fact that he still doesn't lie to get out of things (only to get more dessert).
But I still wanted to keep him home, even though he wasn't perhaps very sick, as things are going around lately. So Hopie kindly agreed to come in early and spend the day with him. Before she arrived, however, Avery and I were just sitting around talking. It was such an awesome conversation that I have to list a few key questions he asked me.
Questions Avery Asked:
1. Do ducks have friends?
2. Is Popi old? (I asked what he thought, he said NO.)
3. Are Jessica and Brian part of our family?
4. Is that robot in the box part of our family? (When I said that no, the robot is a toy and not part of our family, he replied, 'Why? I love the robot.')
5. Are all my friends at school?
6. Then why can't I go? (LOGICAL! and also a total turn around from his normal morning protestations in which he always claims to not like school...until he gets there.)
