When Mama's Away

I had a meeting at Avery's school last night. I arrived back home a little after 8:30, and first saw this:



Apparently Avery and Walker had a little chair train party.

Then, I turned around, and in the kitchen were Avery's bikes, abandoned:



There was a laptop sitting on the floor in the living room:


I then went upstairs, and found: a trashcan in the bathtub, puppets all the way up the stairwell and Avery's abandoned underwear at the top of the steps.

Seriously, there was some kind of party going on when I was gone.

Updates: 1. Avery has learned how to gallop. He calls it skipping, and he has been doing it all around the living room, street, park, store... since yesterday afternoon. Everywhere. 2. Avery asked Walker, "What alphabet does your name begin with?" 3. I asked Avery what we are going to do tomorrow, and he said, "We are going to get some hay and ride on a pumpkin!" A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
