Avery's Pal for Brunch




Avery was so excited that his good pal Olivia and her little sis, Harper, were coming over this morning, that he had trouble sleeping last evening. He and his dad even made some little beads and pendants out of sculpey clay for Olivia, and for Nan and Sashee.

Olivia and her family arrived, and Avery ran through the house yelling, "Olivia!". She, with the same enthusiasm, bounded in the door at 10am. Olivia was carrying a little purse with mod, sparkley swirlies on it, filled with My Little Pony. She was wearing her sparkly pink shoes. There's clearly something about all the little girl accessories and toys that is just TOO adorable.

When we were ready all take a frigid walk to the park, we asked Olivia and Avery to give us the thumbs up. I have learned that this was a harder to do if 1) you wearing mittens 2) you haven't quite learned what your thumb is.

Updates: 1. Avery has learned how to gallop. He calls it skipping, and he has been doing it all around the living room, street, park, store... since yesterday afternoon. Everywhere. 2. A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
