Sparkley Bars and Holiday Trucks

Avery got one of his first holiday presents last night from Jen. It is a pair of beautiful, crafty-cool trucks with a real log on the back. The entire ride home he was saying, "Thank you, Jen." We called Jen to leave a message, too, and without prompting, he launched into his thanks, for giving him the great trucks. He kept saying, "Jen, Jen, Jen, Jen," in the car after he got off the phone.

We got home, and he continued, even in bed, to zoom his trucks. He asked to sleep with this trucks, and he woke up playing with them. He wanted to bring his trucks to school.

When does this immediate love and appreciation stop in us? Avery really understood how sweet and kind it was that someone was thinking of him, and wanted to get him a gift. I hope to keep this lovely appreciation alive in Avery, the sort that makes you want to sleep with your little trucks that you just LOVE LOVE LOVE because they are NEW and someone thought of you, and wanted to give them to you. They were a surprise! Your new little trucks! with the real logs stuck to the back! that you can zoom all around the living room! vrmmmmmmmmmmmm.

A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
