Our Budding Little ArtistE


This morning, Avery hopped into our bed and told me that he likes to paint pictures at the art museum. He's previously told us that he takes art classes there. But this morning, he provided some evidence of such courses.

Avery: I want to paint a picture.
M: Really? Do you want to do that today? Now?
Avery: Yes, I want to paint. And I want to mix red and blue to make purple.
M: Wow! Where did you learn that red and blue make purple?
Avery: At my class in the art museum.

Happy Halloween. We will post Halloween shots later today. Avery decided that he wanted to be a pumpkin this morning, despite our clear winner on the survey, Mighty Mouse. He said, "I want to be cute as a pumpkin!" However, no time for pumpkin costume making....

Updates: 1. Avery has learned how to gallop. He calls it skipping, and he has been doing it all around the living room, street, park, store... since yesterday afternoon. Everywhere. 2. A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
