Need to Think a Bit

Avery appears to be quite good at following conversations, enough to understand, for example, when there is a pause, how to reply or respond. He can predict what answers should come, and can really carry on a whole conversation (even if some of the information is made up) at this point. He knows, for example, when to answer YES or NO, he can respond correctly when asked where or what or who or why or when...something happened. And he knows how to choose from a list (do you want this OR that?)...

Tonight, the following conversation took place in the car:

Walker: Avery, what should we do with the 22nd Street house, refinance or sell it?
Avery: Avery need to think of it.
Walker: What, sweetie?
Avery: Avery need to think about it.

REALLY. He said he didn't want to give an answer just then, he needed to THINK ABOUT IT!

And one other thing that has been happening lately---he usually refers to himself in the third person. This is actually something quite endearing and very, well, very Avery. But in the last two weeks or so, he's begun using the proper pronoun, "I" and saying things like, "I want to brush teeth." Just a little language development note...

Updates: 1. Avery has learned how to gallop. He calls it skipping, and he has been doing it all around the living room, street, park, store... since yesterday afternoon. Everywhere. 2. A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
