He May Look Like a Small Child With a Pigeon on His Shirt, But He Can Read


We got Avery chocolate milk that comes in those little boxes with straws. He stopped drinking milk when his last bottle broke in December, so there's sort of a bribery going on. Not that I really think he needs MILK, but it couldn't hurt. And nor can just a little chocolate. So, he drinks a box in the morning.

Yesterday morning he turned to us, holding up the box, and said, "It says it's organic!" This is true. It IS organic. So we said, "Did someone tell you that? How do you know that?" Avery replied, "It says right here." (He pointed right at the word organic).

Then, he turned and said, "Says chocolate milk over here." We didn't believe he was reading anything. Then, he turned the box around and said, "Right here, behind wrapper." It was true.

I am SURE sure SURE these were really good guesses, but still...worth recording.

A New Food Every Three Days...

If you were to try a new food every three days for about a year, don't you think you'd get to the point where you had to be really creative to find something new? With combinations of ingredients, knowing that you have tried one dish, you would think that you'd exhaust the possibilities. Well, we've been new foods like this for some time now, and every time I go to the grocery or Farmer's Market, I come back with something new for Avery. Ritz crackers were introduced today! Chive cream cheese was on the menu a few days ago. This evening, we combined the two for Ritz cracker and chive cream cheese fiesta. Avery hogged down seven crackers piled high with cream cheese, had a huge piece of extra sharp cheddar, and some berry applesauce. This was all washed down with a huge bottle of organic whole milk, which friend Jeanna says, "tastes like fresh cut grass and ice cream."
