Avery's First "Real" Email To His Friend, Miles

Hi miles. Hello and I'll see you another day. (dictated, 8pmish last night) UttfdxzcvblkjhgfdsQwerty u yu iop Love Eav Aaavetyyavetr Sent from my iPhone. He actually typed the signature. I think if the keyboard were bigger he could have typed his name beautifully (though what he did was still pretty cool.) Maybe we'll try the computer keyboard today.

Quote of the Day

Avery just said, "Mama, you know what those things are called that cover your eyes? They are called eye lips."

Bad Dreams & Bad Guys

Image
We are entering a new stage of Avery's life. With his new potty training about two weeks down, his new big boy bed AND all the other changes of being three and a half, there's a lot going on. So it's not surprising that he should have a real bad dream. Last night, he woke up screaming around 12:30. First, he said he needed to take a trip to the potty. Afterwards, he sat down, shaking, on the bed. He was yelling about a BAD GUY and something about a movie. He ended up sleeping with us, and then I had this conversation today... Avery: So what about the bad guy and my dream? Me: The bad guy wasn't real, he was pretend. He was only in your dream. Avery: He wasn't real? Me: No, he wasn't real. A: Oh. What about the bad guy though? Why was he in my dream? Me: He wasn't real, sweetie. Sometimes dreams help us know we are strong. A: I don't want to talk about it. (twenty seconds later) A: What about the bad guy? Me: It sounds like he was really sca...

Pants Optional

Avery refused to put pants on during our car ride home the other day. Perhaps he was just too exhausted? Or, perhaps this is a developmental phase, as it seems the 'pants optional' discussion is something of trend among his peers.

BIG BOY BED

We opened Avery's bed up and now, it's a three railed BIG BOY BED. When asked how he felt about it, Avery replied, "It's good fun!" Not only is he a big kid, but he's also suddenly British.

Big Day!

Avery's teacher said that Avery should wear underwear to school next week. He is READY! BIG DAY! We are going to open his crib into a big boy bed tomorrow---and have a big ceremony to do so. He's donning his Elmo duds under his pants, and has successfully told us twice when he needed to use the potty while wearing them. Very exciting! Walker is superstitious, but I want to record this milestone even if it's a false alarm.
