Things Happen for a Reason

Hopie's train got into an accident. She is fine, but they were stalled for two hours. I ended up picking Avery up from his Playgroup. It turned out this was a good thing. Actually, he did fine all day according to his teacher, but then at some point close to 12pm, he started to cry A LOT. He was sobbing. When I arrived, all the littlest kids were putting on their shoes, and Avery was in the center of this little circle, just wailing. One of the teachers was sitting with him, helping him with his shoes. He was doing that little hyperventilating thing that happens when you cry too much, and yelling "Mommy! Mommy!" When I picked him up, he asked, "Where's Daddy? Want to see daddy." We left the little courtyard and sat on some steps outside the school with another little girl in his class, Olivia. They ate grapes, and Avery calmed down. I know school is good for him, he can meet friends and learn to socialize. They have magic shows and visits from...

Avery met a dog named TINY

Avery had his first brush with irony about five minutes ago. He met a Great Dane whose name was "Tiny". He didn't know what to make of it. He kept saying, "Dog is NOT tiny. NOT tiny. NOT TINY." Sorry, no pictures of the scene, as he was outside jumping in puddles with daddy when Tiny, who is, apparently, not tiny, came upon the scene. However, notice, miraculously, my iPhoto program seems to be up and working again. Thanks, Uncle Eric!

The TOOT

We went to the Franklin Institute today with Avery. Generally, I think that we agreed that most of the exhibits are not really suited for kids under, maybe, 5 years old. And there was a lot of broken equipment. Not sure why? Oh, and the Pirate exhibit? Not for kids. You sit through a movie first thing, which was really loud and dark, and Avery kept saying, "No like this movie! No like this!" So we had to leave. Overall, though, he seemed mildly amused by the "Amazing Machine" exhibits, and also kind of liked walking through the heart.

Magic Show!

Avery jumped right into the classroom again today. No goodbye. No worries. TOYS! MAX! And ... shaving cream? They had blocks out on a table and a few of the little kids were smushing them around in shaving cream. Very funny, and very messy. And they are going be seeing a magic show today. It's like a birthday party every day!
