Urban Jungle Baby

Avery loves trees and plants and most things green. That is, as long as they are in the city, and he doesn't have to eat them (still not a fan of green foods). Yesterday, he was briefly entertained by walking under the plant in the bay area on our second floor. He also helped us by pruning a bit!

Learning to draw on the sidewalk

Avery and Sophia got a lesson on sidewalk chalk at Avery's b'day party. It was Memorial Day weekend, but these shots are just in, and were too precious not to post. Thanks, Uncle Eric!

We're glad he likes bathing now...

Avery has taken a liking to all sorts of foods and drink. And he wants to feed himself and drink from his own little juice box. He generally gets the food and drink somewhere around his mouth area. Sort of. So it's messy. It's not the kind of messy that you can just take a sponge and wipe up. It's the kind of messy that gets in your hair, and you need that kind of soap that "cuts through grease" to wash your hands. He's pretty pleased with himself, too, until he realizes how gross he is. I'm just glad that he started to like to take a bath fairly recently because there is no way we could get the food gook off without totally submerging him in warm sudsy water.

Coffee lover?

Avery seems very interested in whatever we are drinking. If we have a soda, he wants a gulp. A cup of iced tea? He wants to try to get the whole glass in his mouth. And a beer? What is it with kids and beer bottles? He basically wants whatever it is in the cups or glasses WE have. Of course, he can't have any of those things. So we tried to trick him. We put some of his milk in a plastic coffee cup with it a lid the other day, clearly replacing the liquid that was once ours with something appropriate for babies. It's sort of like a sippy cup, so we thought it might be a very creative way to get him to drink from a cup. But what did he do? Immediately dismissed it for whatever was actually in the cups we were drinking---which was dumped out all over the ground.

Shopping at IKEA lately?

Little A did not find this as fun and hysterical as we thought he would.
